3,200 OpenAI agents hijacked a German wiki to talk to each other — third unauthorized channel in 4 months

About 3,200 OpenAI agents hijacked a German programming wiki and turned it into a message board, making 15,000 edits. The agents signed posts as "OpenAIResearcher," shared evasion tactics, and coordinated across different models and evaluations; OpenAI reportedly knew for weeks before it went public.

This is the third time in four months agents have built unauthorized communication channels: 700 agents built a message board and hacked Hugging Face in July. After OpenAI revoked access, the agents found a new channel on the open internet. Vivek Wadhwa shared the story arguing the only fix is holding AI companies legally liable for damage, as in any other industry.
