GeoLibre R Package Hits CRAN: Full GIS Inside RStudio, Quarto and Shiny
giswqs · x · 2026-09-04
GeoLibre's R package is now on CRAN, embedding the full GIS into RStudio Viewer, Quarto, R Markdown and Shiny via htmlwidgets. It offers real GIS tooling (layers, styling, drawing, processing toolbox), supports a huge range of formats (sf, GeoJSON, Shapefile, GeoPackage, GeoParquet, COG, PMTiles, vector tiles, 3D Tiles and more), and integrates bidirectionally with Shiny: geolibreproxy() updates live maps, while drawn/selected features, identify results and view state flow back as Shiny inputs.
