Responding to calls for a new AGI benchmark, ML author Andriy Burkov argues that putting "AGI" in a benchmark name doesn't reflect what the public means by the term. His plain-words test: AGI is a virtual character that reliably does work like a qualified human, asks clarifying questions when needed—and you'd trust it to negotiate and sign a multi-thousand-dollar contract on your behalf. If not, it's not AGI.
