LangChain partners with Nevermined to let agents pay for services within spend caps

LangChain and Nevermined have published a partnership and cookbook addressing the problem that agents stall whenever they lack an API, run out of tokens, or need a missing tool:
- Delegated credit card: operators authorize a card to an agent with spending limits and merchant restrictions, so the agent can buy what it needs mid-task (e.g., web search credits, data access) without human intervention, and cannot exceed the caps.
- Auto top-up: after exhausting search credits, the agent can purchase more and keep running.
- Traceability: providers selling to agents can trace every payment in LangSmith, with no new payment rails required.
This sketches a working framework for "agentic commerce": giving long-running agents autonomous payment and resource acquisition.
