LangChain cookbook: let agents pay with a delegated card, no human in the loop
LangChain · x · 2026-09-04
LangChain and Nevermined released a cookbook showing how long-running agents can pay autonomously mid-task:
- Delegate a card: operators authorize one credit card with spending limits and scopes the agent cannot exceed
- Self-serve mid-task: the agent buys web search credits, tops itself up when exhausted, and discovers/purchases access to a data provider it was never wired to — no human in the loop
- Sell to agents directly: API providers need no new payment rails; every payment is traceable in LangSmith
It addresses the classic stall point where agents halt waiting for a human to sign up, add a card, and paste in API keys.
