MEM-ABBREV protocol: compress memory and resist sycophancy
Anthropo-morphic · reddit · 2026-08-31
MEM-ABBREV is a structured protocol designed to make human-AI collaborative reasoning more honest and persistent by substituting explicit epistemic conventions for missing memory and trust. It does not fix underlying architecture issues but raises the threshold at the output layer to reduce sycophancy and overconfidence driven by RLHF. The protocol has four goals: ensure veracity, minimize sycophancy, provide cross-session memory, and govern honest internal state discussions. To fit within context windows, it uses a non-binary compression system inspired by logic, achieving 49.5% character compression.
