Israel plans to recruit 120 AI experts for 5M NIS, sparking budget concerns

Israel's National AI Authority announced a plan to spend 5 million NIS to bring back 100 experienced AI experts and 20 entrepreneurs and talent from abroad. The program aims to provide a comprehensive package, including company matching, interview assistance, housing support, mentoring, and family accompaniment. However, some commentators question whether the budget is sufficient given the high level and quantity of talent targeted. Previous research indicated a shortage of about 2,400 Core AI professionals in Israel.
