Open-source 'universal pipe' connects cloud, local and self-hosted LLMs for free

The authors argue existing model aggregators either force relocation to a new app or impose a 'value tax' on your own API keys — charging, silently down-routing, and restricting tools/hooks/MCPs. They open-sourced ConiferKit/use-conifer: cloud models, self-hosted models, custom models, your own keys and even the hardware under your desk all connect the same way, with bring-your-own costing nothing and no workflow changes. The project aims to stay community-maintained and is looking for maintainers.
