Netlify Launches 'Source': Git Power Without GitHub Accounts
thisiskp_ · x · 2026-08-21
Netlify has launched Netlify Source, a new native Git infrastructure that brings version control in-house as a core part of the platform. It provides the protections and capabilities of version control to every project without requiring a separate repository or GitHub account. This lowers the barrier for new builders and speeds up experimentation for experienced developers. CTO Dana Lawson also discusses why Git remains the right foundation for software development in an age where AI agents generate vast amounts of code.
