Moving to Cloud Agents: Solving Local Conflicts and Dependency Pain Points
jarrodwatts · x · 2026-08-22
The author shares their first day experience moving from local to cloud-based AI coding agents. Cloud agents assign a fresh machine per thread, eliminating conflicts and resource exhaustion (like disk issues with Git worktrees) when running multiple agents locally. Although environment isolation means missing pre-installed tools, dependency installation takes under a minute on powerful hardware. Configuring MCP servers and provider-specific setup scripts is required but worth it. The author sees cloud-native as the right direction despite initial setup friction.
