Flock's AI Tool Can Identify Drivers and Track Vehicle Patterns, Report Finds
ArtificialOther · x · 2026-08-19
An investigation by WIRED reveals that Flock Safety’s new AI system, OS Investigate, contradicts the company's public claim that its technology “cannot recognize, identify, or track individuals.” Leveraging a network of cameras across 6,000 communities, the tool identifies drivers via vehicle movement patterns, spots potential witnesses based on visit frequency, and infers associations. By linking plate scans to police case files, 911 logs, and commercial databases, it converts license plates into names, addresses, and relatives. The system includes 69 prewritten prompts for officers and grants access to arrest records, dispatch logs, and databases containing Social Security numbers.
