Seminal Paper: Legibility vs. Predictability in Robot Motion
tomssilver · x · 2026-08-17
Recommends the 2013 HRI paper 'Legibility and Predictability of Robot Motion.' The key insight is that legibility (inferring goal from motion) and predictability (inferring motion from goal) are fundamentally different and often contradictory. Experiments show robots must change motion planning to seamlessly collaborate with humans.
