ROCm Config Issue: ComfyUI Fails to Use VRAM, Runs Extremely Slow
ibrahim1243dxc · reddit · 2026-08-15
A user reports that ComfyUI on Ubuntu (ROCm 7.2) is failing to utilize VRAM on an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU with Radeon 8060S (28GB allocated), causing extremely slow performance. Generating a 480p 4-second video takes over 22 minutes, whereas image generation takes under 2 minutes. The user shared their systemd service configuration, including ROCm overrides (HSAOVERRIDEGFXVERSION, MIOPENFINDMODE, etc.) and PyTorch allocator settings. Despite enabling/disabling lowvram, the system often reverts to using RAM, whereas llama.cpp runs smoothly on the same hardware.
