A developer released zclaw, an AI personal assistant designed to run on ESP32 microcontrollers with extreme resource constraints. The project limits the total all-in firmware size to 888 KiB (with 35KB of app code), including the AI logic, ESP-IDF/FreeRTOS runtime, Wi-Fi, TLS, and certificate bundles. Despite the tiny footprint, zclaw supports scheduled tasks, GPIO control, persistent memory, and custom tool composition via natural language, making it a fun target for embedded hacking.
