Open Source Tool btrpa-scan: Scans and Resolves BLE Privacy Addresses
tom_doerr · x · 2026-08-15
A new open-source Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) scanning tool called btrpa-scan has been released on GitHub. It features advanced resolution capabilities, using Identity Resolving Keys (IRKs) to decrypt Resolvable Private Addresses (RPAs), identifying devices that randomize their addresses for privacy.
Key features include:
- Discovering all broadcasting BLE devices in range with signal strength, estimated distance, and manufacturer data.
- Targeted search and monitoring for specific MAC addresses.
- Resolving randomized addresses using IRKs.
- Bulk resolution by loading multiple IRKs from a file.
- RSSI filtering to exclude weak signals.
