Teaching AI Scientific Taste: Failed Experiments Are the Real Goldmine

The author explores how AI models can be taught "scientific taste." Scientific papers typically show only the happy path from hypothesis to result, leaving out everything that didn't work.

This missing history is exactly what AI needs to develop scientific taste. A pre-clinical genome editing group at Cambridge has already started recording these normally discarded scientific paths for future AI models to learn from.
