Twitch Opts Streamers In by Default to Train Amazon's AI Models

404 Media · rss · 2026-08-13

Twitch announced a new setting allowing streamers to opt out of having their channel content used to train Amazon's generative AI models. However, this option is enabled by default, meaning that unless streamers proactively turn it off in their security settings, their streams, VODs, clips, chat logs, and text will be used for AI training.

While Twitch positions this as empowering users, it effectively shifts the burden of choice and awareness onto the streamers. Furthermore, even if opted out of generative AI training, Twitch retains data for non-generative AI features like AutoMod and automatic captions.
