A team of Chinese researchers has developed Light Society, a framework capable of simulating over 1 billion AI agents equipped with realistic demographic profiles and human-like social behaviors.

Built by researchers from USTC, Tsinghua, and Fudan University, the project represents a roughly 100x leap over previous agent-based simulations, which typically hit computational bottlenecks at around 10 million agents.

Core Technical Innovations:

The system can be applied to simulate opinion diffusion, trust dynamics, and even future policy and legislative impacts.
