Hackers Shut Down Polish Plant Turbine via Private APN in Unprecedented OT Attack
Bedrovelsen · x · 2026-08-12
Hackers successfully shut down a turbine at a Polish CHP plant by compromising a wind farm network. They pivoted through the grid operator’s private APN to infiltrate the plant’s OT network and put Siemens PLCs into STOP mode.
CERT notes this is the first real-world attack observed using this APN route, highlighting critical vulnerabilities in cross-network isolation within key infrastructure.
