Scholars Refute Altman: Today's Static AI Models Are Far From Singularity

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently claimed on a podcast that "we are now in the singularity." In response, scholars argue that today's large language models (LLMs) lack the two core features required for the singularity: recursive self-improvement and superhuman intelligence.
The article explains that once an LLM completes pre-training, its internal network parameters are "frozen." Between user prompts, it remains a static mathematical object incapable of making itself smarter autonomously. Therefore, current AI systems are still far from a true technological singularity.
