Redis Creator Releases h3.c: Native MiniMax Multimodal Inference on Mac
solyarisoftware · x · 2026-08-12
Antirez, the creator of Redis, has launched h3.c, an open-source inference engine designed specifically for Apple Silicon (Metal). It enables Mac users to run MiniMax-H3 multimodal models locally for text-to-video and text-to-audio generation.
Performance Highlights (Tested on M5 Max):
- Speed: int8 quantization accelerates inference by 40% compared to BF16 floating-point (e.g., 512×512 rendering drops from 36.3s to 25.8s).
- Memory: Peak tensor storage is significantly reduced from 36.4 GiB to 25.9 GiB.
Current Features:
- End-to-end text-to-video/audio generation is fully functional.
- Supports first/last frame conditioning.
- Enables image/video/audio references as inputs (Ref2VA).
- Outputs 24fps video while maintaining consistency in subject, composition, and motion across decoded frames.
