Palantir CTO: AI Boosts Productivity and Drives Hiring in Supply-Constrained Economy
MartinGTobias · x · 2026-08-12
Palantir CTO Shyam Sankar pushed back against the narrative that AI is destroying jobs in a recent media interview. He cited a small submarine parts manufacturer that used AI to reduce production planning time from two weeks to less than an hour.
This dramatic efficiency gain led to a surplus of parts to make, prompting the factory to hire a third shift of workers. Sankar argues that in a fundamentally supply-constrained economy, AI eliminates deadweight loss and unleashes productivity, ultimately encouraging companies to expand their workforce.
