Sakana AI Launches RSI Lab, Hires Talent for Recursive Self-Improvement Systems

Sakana AI announced the establishment of its Recursive Self-Improvement (RSI) Lab, tasked with redesigning the AI development process itself using AI. The lab aims to transition from static, human-led R&D to autonomous, self-improving intelligence engines.
Led by Co-Founder and CEO David Ha, the research focuses on frontier language models, world models that learn physical dynamics, and the recursive self-improvement loop. The lab is currently hiring full-time researchers, engineers, and interns in Tokyo to build next-generation RSI systems and verifiable simulators for physical AI.
