Anthropic's Unreleased Claude Tackles Riemann Hypothesis, Raising Lower Bound to 67.2%

eldonredwards · x · 2026-08-11

Anthropic used an unreleased research version of Claude to attempt solving the Riemann hypothesis, a major Millennium Prize math problem. While it didn't solve it, the model made strides on a related problem: increasing the lower bound for the fraction of zeros of the Riemann zeta function that satisfy the hypothesis from 41.6% to 67.2%.

Additionally, Professor Ethan Mollick quoted the official demo, expressing concern over the complex prompting techniques shown in the video and urging the company to test if they actually work robustly across slightly older models.
