Spotify Open-Sources Xirp, a Multi-Model Agentic Dev Environment
jasonkneen · x · 2026-08-11
Spotify Engineering has released Xirp, a vendor-neutral agentic development environment. It allows developers to manage agent sessions across multiple leading LLMs—such as Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, and OpenAI Codex—in a single unified interface.
Over 1,300 engineers at Spotify are already using the tool internally. While developers have welcomed the release, some have raised questions and debates regarding whether it is truly "open source".
