Codex SubAgents Inherit Top-Tier Models, Burning Through Tokens Unnoticed

A developer reported a hidden cost trap when using Codex: it automatically spawns multiple SubAgents that inherit the high-level model configuration from the main session (e.g., Computer User controlling Chrome).
This causes the model to burn through token quotas rapidly in the background while performing actions like reading web pages without the user's awareness. Other developers suggested implementing alert mechanisms to monitor abnormal model calls and token consumption.
