Auto-Review Drains Quota: Codex Consumes 1.7 Billion Tokens
bdsqlsz · x · 2026-08-07
A developer noticed that their ChatGPT Codex quota was depleting unusually fast. Analytics revealed that over the past 6 weeks, the codex-auto-review (Approve for Me) feature consumed a staggering 1.74 billion tokens across approximately 23,500 tool reviews, accounting for the vast majority of usage.
To prevent rapid quota exhaustion, users are advised to disable auto-review, memory, and recommendations in the Codex settings.
