To combat South Florida's severe ecological disaster, USGS researchers are leveraging AI to track and trap invasive species like Burmese pythons and 5-foot tegu lizards.
The team deployed $300 AI-connected cameras capable of automatically spotting tegus. Upon detection, the system instantly alerts scientists, enabling them to quickly locate the animals and set up traps in the exact areas where the lizards were spotted.
