AI-Assisted Reviews Cause Rebuttal Length to Explode, Overwhelming Area Chairs

Area Chairs are complaining that AI tools have made academic rebuttals and reviewer comments excessively lengthy and dense. Reviewing just 8 papers now requires reading over 30 pages of comments, severely overloading ACs.
In response, a researcher argued that if a 9-page paper requires 30 pages of comments to clarify, the AC is justified in rejecting it without reading the comments, unless the reviewers were clearly incompetent.
