Ai2 and Hugging Face Expand Partnership, Boosting Storage to Nearly 2PB
allen_ai · x · 2026-08-06
The Allen Institute for AI (Ai2) has announced an expanded partnership with Hugging Face to make fully open AI more accessible and deployable.
As part of the collaboration, Hugging Face is roughly tripling Ai2's storage capacity on the Hub to nearly 2 petabytes and lifting standard rate limits. This ensures that even Ai2's largest datasets and multi-checkpoint models can be downloaded at full throughput. Since spring 2024, Ai2's artifacts have been downloaded over 50 million times.
The added infrastructure will support Ai2's forthcoming work on multimodal models, tool-using agents, and open models for scientific communities, reinforcing their commitment to end-to-end open research.
