oran_ge · x · 2026-08-06
Google DeepMind has undergone a leadership transition. Demis Hassabis has nominally moved to a higher role, handing over daily leadership to Koray Kavukcuoglu and product head Josh Woodward.
Koray, a former PhD student of Yann LeCun and one of DeepMind's deep learning pioneers, will lead alongside Woodward, who oversaw the development of key products like the Gemini app and NotebookLM. Previous reports indicated that Koray has been working closely with Google co-founder Sergey Brin to aggressively improve the model's coding capabilities.
