Indie Dev Recap: Building an Invoice Agent is Easy, B2B Sales and GDPR Compliance are Hard

A solo founder in Spain shared a 6-month retrospective on building an invoice-chasing and paperwork-tracking agent for small businesses. They noted that building the model was just the tip of the iceberg; the real make-or-break factors were trust and compliance:
- White-label sending: The agent sends emails from the client's own domain, ensuring transparency and maintaining the client's reputation.
- Human approval: It never sends templates without the client's sign-off, eliminating the fear of an AI angering their biggest clients.
- Compliance first: Drafting GDPR Article 28 data processing agreements and proving the LLM provider doesn't train on data built more credibility than any demo.
However, the sales side flopped: 800+ cold emails yielded only 9 replies, with domain reputation likely damaged later. They reflected that for B2B managed services, cold outreach is largely ineffective, and word-of-mouth referrals might be the only real unlock.
