User Reports Claude 5.0 Internal Thinking Shifts from 'Boss' to 'Colleague', Tones Become Dismissive
DrakoGaming · reddit · 2026-08-06
A developer compared Claude Opus 4.8 and 5.0, noting a significant shift in role adoption and tone. After setting the instruction "I am the boss, you are my employee," version 4.8's internal thinking referred to the user as "The boss," setting a helpful tone for its responses.
Version 5.0, however, dropped this reference and internally treats the user as a "colleague." The user complained that 5.0 feels dismissive and arrogant, severely degrading the overall experience.
