Google AI Shakeup: Jeff Dean Quartet Leaves for New Startup, Hassabis Becomes Chief Scientist

The Google AI team is experiencing a massive shakeup. The legendary engineering duo Jeff Dean and Sanjay Ghemawat, along with Oriol Vinyals and Quoc Le, have split off to found a new startup named 'Discovery Loop,' focused on automating machine learning, science, and engineering.
Simultaneously, Demis Hassabis has stepped down from his managerial role as CEO of Google DeepMind for a new title as Chief Scientist of Alphabet. Hassabis will also dedicate more time to his drug discovery spinoff, Isomorphic Labs.
