Google DeepMind Restructures: Hassabis Becomes Chief Scientist, Koray Leads GDM

Google DeepMind announced a major leadership restructuring. Sundar Pichai stated that Demis Hassabis will step up to become Chair of Google DeepMind and Chief Scientist of Alphabet, focusing on shaping the future of AGI and scientific discovery. Koray Kavukcuoglu will become SVP, responsible for all aspects of model development, GDM research, and the Gemini app and dev teams.
Koray thanked Pichai and said the company will double down on Gemini models, frontier AI research, and products. He also congratulated Hassabis on his new role, expressing excitement to continue working together to build AGI.
