Oriol Vinyals Leaves DeepMind to Join Jeff Dean's New Startup

Google DeepMind executive and Gemini co-lead Oriol Vinyals announced his departure from the company. He reflected on his 13-year journey at Google, which started with a quick email exchange with Jeff Dean, and his work leading major projects like AlphaStar and Gemini.
Vinyals will now follow his original mentor to take on a drastic new challenge, joining Jeff Dean and others to co-found Discovery Loop, focusing on automating science and engineering.
