LangSmith Launches LLM Gateway for Production-Grade Agent Runtime Controls
LangChain · x · 2026-08-06
LangChain announced that its LangSmith LLM Gateway is now in public beta. Positioned as a centralized governance layer between agents and underlying models, it is specifically designed for agent engineering teams in production environments.
The gateway offers three core capabilities:
- Cost and Reliability Control: Set rate and spend limits for individual customers under a single API key, and configure model fallbacks to prevent massive bills from provider outages or agent retry loops.
- Avoid Vendor Lock-in: Manage both closed and open-weight models through a single gateway, giving teams the flexibility to switch providers.
- Sensitive Data Protection: Automatically redact PII and secrets before model calls to prevent privacy leaks.
