OpenEdit: Open-Source Tool Lets Coding Agents Edit Videos and Burn Subtitles via One Command

VEED has introduced OpenEdit, an open-source, agent-driven video editing pipeline. It ditches the traditional GUI and timeline, operating entirely through coding agents like Claude Code and Codex.
Key Features:
- One-command subtitles: Transcribes video with precise per-word timings, offers 28 built-in caption styles, and features a self-checking render loop that repairs broken frames.
- Token-efficient: The 28 styles are compiled code rather than prompts, meaning zero token cost for selecting a style at runtime. Tokens are only spent when requesting changes.
- Flexible transcription: Supports either a free VEED account or offline local processing via WhisperX.
- Limitation: Currently exclusive to Apple Silicon Macs.
The project is 100% open-source under the Apache 2.0 License.
