SpaceX Spooks Investors with $16B AI Capex in Debut Earnings Report
Ars Technica AI · rss · 2026-08-05
SpaceX's shares dropped about 10% in early trading following its debut earnings report. Although the company posted quarterly revenues of $7.8 billion (up 92% YoY) and a smaller-than-expected net loss, investors were spooked by its capital expenditures. SpaceX reported spending nearly $16 billion on AI and data center development, double the previous quarter and well above Wall Street's expectations. The company indicated that this elevated spending will persist for at least two more quarters.
