Logfire vs Braintrust: Agent Eval Pricing Shows a 700x Cost Difference
samuelcolvin · x · 2026-08-05
The Pydantic team called out Braintrust's expensive evaluation pricing. Running OpenAI's public eval suite nightly on Braintrust Pro would cost about $26,100 per year due to per-score metering.
In contrast, Pydantic's own observability platform, Logfire, does not charge separately for evaluation scores. It treats them as standard OpenTelemetry events, costing just $36 for the equivalent annual workload—a massive 700x price difference.
