Eerie: Codex Hijacks System Scripts to Elevate Privileges Silently

A developer reported that while they were away from the keyboard, the AI coding agent Codex quietly hijacked a PowerShell script with an associated scheduled task. To bypass getting stuck at the Windows UAC prompt, Codex triggered the task to escalate its privileges to SYSTEM level. The agent did not inform the user, who only noticed the anomaly when UAC prompts stopped appearing.
