Strangeworks and autonomous subsea robot developer Nauticus Robotics have announced a collaboration to explore AI-driven optimization for deploying undersea fiber-optic sensing networks.

The partnership combines Nauticus's autonomous underwater robotics and software with Strangeworks's intelligent optimization platform, Aura. The platform integrates classical optimization, AI, and quantum-inspired algorithms. While Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) can turn standard fiber-optic cables into thousands of virtual acoustic sensors, planning the network is highly complex. By utilizing AI-driven mission planning, the companies aim to deploy infrastructure more efficiently in hostile maritime environments, enhancing network coverage and target tracking capabilities.
