Italian deep-tech company GBionics unveiled Gene.01, a humanoid robot featuring full-body tactile "smart skin." Unlike vision-only robots, it detects touch, proximity, force, and temperature across its body.
Workers can teach tasks by physically guiding the robot and demonstrating the required force. Its first industrial deployment is as a welding humanoid for Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. The digital twin has been open-sourced via PyPI, conda-forge, and ROS.
