Mila says its delegation is on the ground at Deep Learning Indaba in Lagos, Nigeria, for the event’s second day.
Core Academic Member David Adelani was invited to speak and presented “Lessons from the Trenches: Building African-Centric LLMs for African Languages.” His talk focused on how to design models for African languages and real-world use cases, with the goal of encouraging more African researchers to build solutions for their own communities.
The team also invited attendees to stop by the Mila booth to meet researchers, exchange ideas, and learn about recent projects.
