Robotics expert Chris Paxton points out that wheeled robots will always cost notably less than their legged counterparts. The core reason is that actuators are the most expensive components in a robot, and wheeled designs require significantly fewer of them. Thus, there will always be a place for wheeled robots in specific applications.
