ABB Robotics and Massive Dimension have collaborated to launch an additive manufacturing robotic cell designed specifically for education. The system combines an ABB GoFa robotic arm with a filament extruder, enabling true 6-axis FDM printing that breaks the limitations of traditional XYZ machines.

The solution focuses on ease of use and safety: RobotStudio software handles the CAD-to-toolpath workflow in under 30 minutes; the arm features built-in torque sensors on every joint for safety; and the MDAC1 frame includes a heated bed and direct-drive extrusion system, supporting a build volume of 21.5 x 21.5 x 20 inches.
