Amazon CEO Jassy: AI Adoption is Barbell-Shaped, Enterprise Inference to Surge
firstadopter · x · 2026-08-03
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy recently described the current AI adoption curve as "barbelled." On one end are AI labs consuming massive compute and a few runaway hits like ChatGPT and Claude Code; on the other are enterprises gaining real value in cost avoidance and productivity.
Jassy pointed out that the middle of the barbell—existing enterprise production workloads—mostly does not use inference yet. However, he expects this to change significantly, predicting it will become the largest absolute market segment over time.
