Speaking with participants at the Outside Lands AI Music Hackathon in San Francisco, the author noted a clear divide among contestants. There is a significant difference between teams equipped with dedicated AI software engineers who can build custom harnesses, and those accustomed only to unlimited token generation via standard APIs.
Out of the 47 entries, some teams even focused on building a mesh network to ensure communication during cell outages, demonstrating practical problem-solving tailored to real-world music festival environments.
