DeepSeek Reportedly Building Dedicated 'DeepSeek Code' Agent to Rival Claude Code
iamaliveix · x · 2026-08-03
According to leaks, DeepSeek is developing a dedicated AI coding agent called DeepSeek Code, powered by its new Harness framework. The project is designed for autonomous software engineering, including planning, tool use, and code execution.
The Harness framework will support long-running agent workflows with memory and repository awareness. Recent DeepSeek V4-Flash benchmarks already utilized this framework, signaling it’s a core part of their roadmap. Positioned as a direct competitor to Claude Code and OpenAI Codex, closed beta testing is expected to begin soon.
