Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics 2 Enables Whole-Body Humanoid Control
The Verge AI · rss · 2026-07-31
Google DeepMind announced the latest version of its Gemini Robotics AI model. Unlike its predecessor which focused on upper-body control, Gemini Robotics 2 can now control entire humanoid robots, from their feet to their fingertips.
The new model enables a wider range of actions, including walking, crouching, stretching, and object manipulation. In demonstration videos, Apptronik's Apollo 2 robot showcased complex tasks such as bending over to pick up a watering can and finding specific items on a shelf.
